Love can be a quiet rebellion, especially when it blossoms amid the tangled webs of grief and the heavy weight of society’s expectations, which often stand in the way of true human connection.
This is the delicate terrain explored in “Only We Know,” a film that dares to tell a story of unexpected love breaking free from the shadows of loss and judgment.
Set to premiere nationwide on June 11, and hitting theaters in the United States two days later, the film by Star Cinema brings together two of the industry’s most respected talents, Charo Santos-Concio and Dingdong Dantes, in a narrative that challenges traditional notions of romance.
“Walang dapat isipin na iba, hindi ba?” were written in the trailer’s description with TJ Monterde’s “Sariling Mundo” as the film’s official soundtrack.
Directed by Irene Emma Villamor, “Only We Know” explores the unlikely but deeply moving relationship between Betty, a 60-year-old retired English teacher portrayed by Santos, and Ryan, a widowed engineer in his 40s, played by Dantes.
The film’s tender portrayal highlights how love can transcend age and life’s emotional wounds and presents a nuanced look at how two souls navigate their own pain while facing external judgment.
ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc. (Star Cinema) recently announced special screenings across North America, with opportunities for fans to meet the stars. “US and Canada, meet Betty and Ryan,” the studio shared on social media.
They are inviting viewers to attend the Artists Meet & Greet events scheduled for June 20 and 21 at Cineplex Scarborough Town Centre in Ontario, Canada, and June 22 at Cinemark Carson in Carson, California.
Tickets for screenings will be offered at major theater chains such as AMC Theatres and through Fandango, with early schedules already confirming showtimes at venues around the greater Los Angeles area, including Glendale.
This film marks Santos’ return to the big screen alongside Dantes.
